Overview
Sales Groups are filter presets that let you quickly switch between different sales categories on your Sales Dashboard and Sales Scorecard. Instead of manually selecting filters each time, you can:
- •Create groups for different sales types (e.g., "Work Order Sales", "New Contract Sales")
- •Filter by Opportunity Type, Sales Type, Division, and Invoice Type
- •Switch between groups with a single click from the dropdown
- •Share consistent filter definitions across your team
What You'll Need
- •Access to Capsa Intelligence with Sales Dashboard or Sales Scorecard
- •Knowledge of your sales categories (Opportunity Types, Sales Types, Divisions)
Access Sales Group Settings
Navigate to the Sales Scorecard or Sales Dashboard:
- Look for the Sales Group dropdown in the page header (shows current group like "Work Order Sales")
- Click the pencil icon next to any existing group to edit it
- Or click "Add New Group" at the bottom of the dropdown to create a new one
Tip: You can also access sales group settings from the Metric Definitions dropdown by selecting "Sales Groups".
Configure Group Filters
In the Sales Group editor, you can set up to four filter criteria that will be applied when this group is selected:
Opportunity Type
Filter by Work Order, Contract, or both. Use this to separate one-time sales from recurring contract revenue.
Sales Type
Filter by New Sale, Upsell/Cross-sell, Renewal, etc. Track performance by how the sale was generated.
Division
Filter by business division (e.g., Maintenance, Irrigation, Enhancement). Focus on specific service lines.
Invoice Type
Filter by how work is invoiced (T&M, Fixed Price, etc.) to analyze different pricing models.
Note: All selected filters within a group are combined with AND logic. For example, selecting "Work Order" Opportunity Type and "New Sale" Sales Type will show only work orders that are new sales.
Name and Save Your Group
Give your group a clear, descriptive name that your team will recognize:
Example Sales Groups
- Work Order Sales: Opportunity Type = Work Order
- New Contract Sales: Opportunity Type = Contract, Sales Type = New Sale
- Maintenance Renewals: Division = Maintenance, Sales Type = Renewal
- Enhancement Upsells: Division = Enhancement, Sales Type = Upsell/Cross-sell
Click Save to create or update the group. Your changes will take effect immediately on both the Sales Dashboard and Sales Scorecard.
Use Your Sales Groups
Once configured, switching between sales groups is simple:
- Click the Sales Group dropdown in the page header
- Select the group you want to view
- The page automatically reloads with the group's filters applied
Your selected group is remembered, so when you return to the page, it will default to your last selection.
Tips for Effective Sales Groups
- 1Keep names short and clear: Use names that are easy to recognize at a glance (e.g., "Work Orders" instead of "All Work Order Opportunity Types")
- 2Start with common categories: Most teams benefit from groups for Work Order vs Contract sales, and New vs Renewal/Upsell
- 3Modify existing groups: The default groups can be renamed and reconfigured to match your terminology
- 4Changes apply everywhere: Sales groups are shared across Sales Dashboard and Sales Scorecard, so updates in one place apply to both
